Meet the New Official Drum Kit for RSL Exams in Singapore: The Medeli MZ923
We’re excited to share an important update for all RSL drum candidates, teachers, and studio owners in Singapore — the official electronic drum kit for RSL Examinations and the Asian Supreme Drum Competition is changing, and it’s an upgrade worth knowing about.
From Tour C 2026 onwards, the Medeli MZ923 Professional Electronic Drum Kit will replace the NU-X DM8 as the standard electronic drum kit used in RSL Public Exam Venue in Singapore. And if you’re sitting your exam in Tour B (1–30 June 2025), you’ll get a first look — both the DM8 and the MZ923 will be available for use in the exam room during this transition session, alongside our usual acoustic drum set.
Why the Change?
As RSL Event Center continues to raise the standard of music examinations in Singapore, it made sense to align with a drum kit that better reflects professional performance and practice environments. The Medeli MZ923 brings a significant step up in playability, sound quality, and overall exam experience — for candidates at every grade level.

What This Means for You
If you’re taking your RSL drum exam in Tour B (1–30 June 2026): Both the NUX DM8 and the Medeli MZ923 will be available in the exam room. You’ll have the option to use either, so there’s no disruption to your preparation — but we encourage you to try the MZ923 if you get the chance!
If you’re preparing for Tour C or beyond: The Medeli MZ923 will be the standard electronic drum kit in all RSL exam rooms. We recommend familiarising yourself with it ahead of your exam, especially the pad layout, cymbal positioning, and pedal feel.
For teachers and studio owners: If you’re preparing students for RSL exams, getting hands-on time with the MZ923 before Tour C is a great way to ensure your students walk into the exam room feeling confident and comfortable.

A Note on the Asian Supreme Drum Competition
The MZ923 will also take its place as the official electronic drum kit for the 2026 ASDC (Asian Supreme Drum Competition). It’s a fitting replacement for the NUX DM8 — one that keeps the real-feel playability competitors expect, alongside the standard acoustic kit.
